Fall 2014 Semester

 

I learned a lot through this internship. I helped to edit articles and promote them via social media. Each week, I learned more and more about both editing, social media, and writing articles, too. This helped me to develop and polish so many different skills for both advertising and public relations, as well as mass communication platforms.

I assist guests in understanding the menu and answering any questions they may have. I attempt to upsell different items to help the guests explore the options our restaurant has to offer. I deliver food to the table and get any sides or condiments they may need to accompany their meals. When guests are finished dining, I cash them out. When I reach the end of my shift, I do a series of clean ups and preparations to get the space ready for the next shift.

I sat guests and managed the rotation of servers. I assisted guests in understanding the menu and answered any questions they may have had. I attempted to upsell different items. I delivered food to the table and got any sides or condiments they may have needed to accompany their meals. When guests were finished dining, I cashed them out and cleaned the tables they were sitting at. During my shift, I assisted with take-out orders and prepared desserts. When I reached the end of my shift, I did a series of clean ups and preparations to get the space ready for the next shift.

I worked with different departments of the STARS Program, they dealt with ratings for childcare providers across various regions, to make promotional items for the classes and workshops they offered. I made brochures and flyers using Microsoft programs. Also, I worked on annual newsletters to update STARS participants on what was going on within the program. Aside from working on promotional items via Microsoft programs, I would make copies and piece together learning packets for the different classes.

I chose Point Park University for its urban campus; it was unlike any other campus I had visited - the opportunities that the city brought excited me. Another thing that sparked my interest about Point Park was their reputation for having professors who worked in the industry that they were teaching.

​2008 - 2011

 

In high school, while juggling honors and college preparatory classes, I decided to opt out of traditional electives and attend the local career and technology center for half of my school day. I love creativity, and I was determined to be an interior decorator, until we got to the marketing portion of the course, and the rest was history. It was here that I discovered my love for advertising.
